Baseball rumors tend to be a little slow during the season, especially this early. The sample size is just too small for many teams to make rash moves and switch things up. Baseball is a game of patience and waiting. That said, the rumor mill has started churning since Frank Thomas was released by the Blue Jays with speculation about where he’ll end up. There was new rumor on mlbtradrumors.com this morning that the Royals were considering signing the Big Hurt or Barry Bonds if they think they can compete. Not exactly sure they can, but Thomas would be an upgrade to their current line up. Unfortunately he’s old, and carries some baggage with him. Doesn’t seem likely that the mainstream contenders would take a chance on him, for fear of him messing up the chemistry on their team. A team like the Royals, however, might do just that. No one expects them to contend and if it could help them be more competitive it might be worth it.
